Found in the South Pacific Ocean.

Deep in the hydrothermal vents of the South Pacific Ocean, things get a little...hairy. The furry Yeti Crab, which was only discovered in 2005, is actually part of a new biological family called the Kiwaidae. These little creatures are able to survive in one of the most extreme environments in the world: under high pressure and deprived of light, they cluster aroundthe vents in the depths of the oceans, which spurt boiling hot water into the freezing seas. Their hairy white pincers - which gave them their abominable snowman moniker - function as filters to detoxify poisonous minerals from the water that come out of the vents.
